Marklin SK 800 Green Restored! From 1948/49
Переглядів 4043 роки тому
What do you do with a 1948/49 SK 800 riddled with zincpest and paint chipping? The presentation was so poor that a repaint was necessary. Instead of painting it in the normal black, I chose green which Marklin only did in the pre-war years (and possibly post-war at special request). I replaced most parts with original or replica parts on the inside so the locomotive is running really well. On t...

    I appreciate this video. Seems like you are the only guy who has done a video on an older model of the SK800. Let me ask you, as no one I know can help me, but, how difficult is it to get the armature out? Many thanks! Keep up the good work!

    • @pauldeardorff7591
      @pauldeardorff7591 Рік тому

      Hi Patrick! Removing the armature is fairly straightforward. The motor brush cover / holder comes out with 2 screws - this piece is commonly broken so needs to be handled carefully. Once the cover is out the armature pulls right out - and there's only one way it can go back in so it's pretty easy!

      @@pauldeardorff7591 Thanks Paul! I did not know this was you!!!! I have pulled dozens of armatures out of engines, but this model has me perplexed. I will look at it again tomorrow and get back with you. Thanks!!!

      @@Marklinstop Thanks a lot. It seems that the problem of frozen rotors caused by hardened oil / grease did not occur on early Märklin productions, but is relatively common on the models issued from 1960. Why is it so ? Did they use a different kind of oiling fluid ?

  • @philippedanjou5390
    @philippedanjou5390 Рік тому

    Hello again ! The qurstion of the production date remains open. I've just checked with the Koll's Preis Katalog (1999 issue). It says that the CCS 800 inscription on the side of the cab was painted in gold until the end of 1953, then became silver in 1954 (version .6). A detail that can distinguish a 1951 version from earlier ones is that the front lights replacement can be made from the exterior of the front bonnets, and does not require opening them. So, good luck for further investigations and best regards. My own ones are the versions .9 (1957) , .11 (1965, # 3015) and the brown one reissued as a special issue #30159 in 1996 for the Insider Club.
